Current Bias: Fan Bingbing

closing the Stéphane Rolland Couture show in Paris

I've seen her a couple of times in movies but I've never really took an interest in her life until recently. I knew that she has a beautiful face but that was just about it-that was my initial thought. Well, since I saw an episode of Fashion Police on E!, I'm hooked by her charisma & ethereal beauty.

In 2007 she set up her own company, Fan Bingbing Studio, so she could manage herself as an entertainer in the industry. The next year, she started an art school in Beijing and became the school's principal-with the school being run by her parents. She is also a co-owner of a philanthropy project called Heart Ali which aimed to rescue children who suffered from Congenital Heart Disease in Ngari, Tibet. On May 21,2012, Forbes ranked Fan Bingbing No. 3 on the 2012 Forbes China Celebrity List, according to Fan’s success in the past year with the films “Buddha Mountain,” “The Founding of a Party” , “Shaolin” and endorsement deals from a huge range of companies. Her fashion inspiration ranges from Greta Garbo's classic style, to Dita Von Teese's pinup-girl style. As an Asian myself, I feel so proud of her achievements all around the world. She is the true epitome of a superwoman; conquering the world one dress at a time :)

She looked sensational wearing a gold one-sleeved print gown with crashing waves on the hem. The two leaping dragons and waves are traditionally thought to bring eternal peace and prosperity.

Not a fan of the hair, though...

at Jean Paul Gaultier show Fall/Winter 2011 Paris Fashion Week
In a sentence, I'd describe her as an elegant chameleon that is not afraid to be herself which automatically makes her a risk-taker in breaking the fashion boundaries. In the process, never forgetting to show off her country's cultures.

Peace & Love,
Nia
